July 8, 2025—The NCBA Communications and Events Assistant serves as production manager of the Bar Association’s monthly journal, Nassau Lawyer, and provides support to the Events Manager on about 15 social, networking and charity events annually, ranging from 100 to 500 attendees, including Judiciary Night, Annual Dinner Gala, Law Day, BBQ at the Bar, Holiday Party, and WE CARE Golf & Tennis Classic.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct support to the Events Manager in the execution of about 15 social, networking and charity events annually
  • Process reservations, prepare event-related documents, and assist with onsite event logistics
  • Create digital and print marketing material, including flyers, brochures, signage, and ads
  • Craft Constant Contract newsletters to be sent to Association members
  • Create and manage social media content
  • Maintain and create new content for WordPress website
  • Solicit and manage article submissions for Nassau Lawyer from Member authors and columnists; communicate deadlines and editorial guidelines to authors and track incoming submissions
  • Edit, proofread, and format articles for Nassau Lawyer to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with NCBA style and standards
  • Coordinate with the graphic designer and printer to ensure timely production and delivery of each issue
  • Place and manage paid advertising for the newspaper, working with outside advertisers and sponsors
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND SKILLS

  • College degree in communications, public relations, marketing, hospitality, or related field
  • Experience in a nonprofit, trade association, law firm, or professional services organization preferred
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office, WordPress, Canva, Constant Contact, database management program and social media
  • Able to stay within budgets and maintain accurate financial records
  • Excellent interpersonal, graphic, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work closely with Executive leadership
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Able to multi-task, be flexible, and exercise good professional judgement

Compensation: $45,000, non-exempt. Periodic overtime as required for events. Benefits include health insurance, dental and vision insurance, 401k plan, and generous holidays and paid time off.
