Housing counselors from the Nassau County Homeownership Center and LI Community Development Corporation, and representatives from Nassau/Suffolk Law Services — which provides free legal services for those who meet certain income guidelines — will be on hand to provide assistance. A bankruptcy attorney will also be available. Attorneys fluent in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Russian, Korean, Chinese, Polish, Greek, etc. will be made available upon request.
Nassau residents dealing with the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy who now find themselves in peril of losing their homes through mortgage foreclosure are welcome to attend clinics. Attorneys will assist on other storm-related issues as well.
Clinics are held every month from 3-6 p.m. at the Bar Association. Please call for the next clinic date.

If you receive a notice to appear in court to discuss a mortgage foreclosure issue with your mortgage holder, the Nassau County Bar Association will provide a pro bono attorney to represent you. NCBA attorneys are located in the back of the courtroom. Just ask for assistance when you get to court.
In 2008, the Nassau County Bar Association – working closely with Nassau/Suffolk Law Services, the Nassau Regional Office of the Attorney General and the County of Nassau – became the first bar association in New York State to address the looming mortgage foreclosure crisis by launching its Mortgage Foreclosure Pro Bono Project, a program that provides free legal assistance to help Nassau homeowners stave off foreclosure on their homes.
This ground-breaking project been recognized with many awards, including the New York State Bar Association’s Award of Merit, its highest award of achievement; the American Bar Association affiliate National Association of Bar Executives Community and Outreach Award, and the New York Law Journal Unsung Heros Award.
