Commercial Division
Advisory Council Film

During 2015, the Commercial Division Advisory Council produced a short film about the Commercial Division of the New York State Supreme Court. The Advisory Council has now produced an updated version of the film which is available on YouTube or https://vimeo.com/195552034. The new film features Chief Judge of the State of New York Janet M. DiFiore, fifteen other Judges, and eleven General Counsel of major corporations speaking about the Commercial Division.

One of the purposes of the film is to educate businesses about the advantages and benefits of litigating their disputes in New York. To help achieve that goal, we would be grateful if you would distribute the film to your business clients. We believe that the film will be interesting and useful to clients, particularly in connection with their selection of a forum for business litigation (either in contractual choice of forum clauses or in commencing litigation). The film portrays recent improvements to the Commercial Division's rules, procedures, and operations which have been designed to be responsive to the needs and concerns of the business community. The ultimate goal of these changes is to make the business litigation process in New York more cost effective, predictable, and expeditious, and to thereby provide a more hospitable and attractive environment for business litigation in New York State.
