"Let reverence for the laws be breathed by every American mother to the lisping babe that prattles on her lap – let it be taught in schools and in colleges – let it be written in primers, spelling books and in Almanacs – let it be proclaimed in legislative halls and enforced in courts of justice. And in short, let it become the political religion of the nation..."

Abraham Lincoln, 1838

As part of the annual national observance of Law Day, a competition for students in grades 7 through 12 solicits entries on a designated theme in the forms of poetry, essay, and a variety of art media. Winners are feted at the Association's May 1st Student Awards Reception.

STUDENT MENTORING PROGRAM

Attorneys act as mentors to middle school students selected by guidance counselors, meeting with them on school premises twice monthly for 45 minutes during the school year. The one-on-one program permits mentor and student to develop a rapport, and motivates students to set and work towards positive goals. Attorneys wishing to serve as mentors, please call (516) 7474070.
