FREE Mortgage Foreclosure Legal Consultation Clinics
In 2008, the Nassau County Bar Association, in partnership with Nassau/Suffolk Law Services, the Nassau Regional Office of the Attorney General and the County of Nassau, became the first bar association in New York State to address the looming mortgage foreclosure crisis by launching its Mortgage Foreclosure Pro Bono Project, a program that provides free legal assistance to help Nassau homeowners stave off foreclosure on their homes. Free clinics provided one-on-one attorney guidance, bankruptcy assistance, home loan modification assistance and information about the Volunteer Lawyers Project, providing free legal assistance to residents who meet income requirements. Clinics are scheduled monthly, 3-6 p.m. at the Nassau County Bar Association.
