BOLD

(Bridge Over Language Divides)

The BOLD Task Force was launched in 2009 to help NCBA be more responsive to the changing ethnic diversity of Nassau County by enhancing the ability to provide legal services and education in communities that speak languages other than English. BOLD works to incorporate non-English languages in all areas of NCBA’s activities and services to better reach out to these communities.

Special Programs

BOLD presents educational programs for the local community, often in languages other than English. BOLD has hosted programs in Haitian Creole on the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program, and currently provides Spanish-speaking attorneys at NCBA’s monthly Mortgage Foreclosure Legal Consultation Clinics. Citizenship interview demonstrations are held in partnership with the USCIS to benefit members of diverse ethnic communities.

BOLD continually works on new programs and ideas, and welcomes members to join. BOLD welcomes members who would like to become involved. You do not have to be fluent in a second  language, but that certainly would be helpful. Come to a meeting and find out more about this important new program.
